Two private medical facilities in capital Dhaka have been sealed off over fake test reports.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday raided SHS Health Care Hospital and Digital Diagnostic Centre at Demra’s Sarulia.
The establishments were sealed off and the owner was jailed by the RAB-operated mobile court, said Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar Basu.
“The owner Shakhawat Hossain Sumon has been sent to two years in prison as well as fined by Tk2 lakh as the licenses to operate the establishments were expired,” he said.
Sumon, who claimed to be a doctor and cleared the test reports by forging the signature of a doctor who worked for him, failed to show any proof of him being a physician during the raid, added Magistrate Basu.
According to him, the facilities were extremely unclean and the ICU lacked proper equipment. The diagnostic centre was also being operated without proper equipment.
Two other staffers— technologist Asim Mandak and pharmacist Md Kakon Mia— have been fined, he added.
Meanwhile, in separate raid at the capital’s Mohakhali and Mohammadpur, RAB confiscated a huge cache of counterfeit hand sanitizers and medicine.
Three people have been jailed over it, said Executive Magistrate Md Akhtaruzzaman, who led the RAB mobile court.
