Covid-19: 2,057 Armed Forces personnel infected so far

Some 2,057 members of the Armed Forces, both in service and retired, 543 civilians and others from various organizations under the Armed Forces, and 188 of their family members tested positive for Covid-19 until Sunday.

As many as 1,310 of them are currently undergoing treatment at various Combined Military Hospitals (CMH), while 1,461 have fully recovered and returned to their homes.

So far, 17 of them have died, of whom 14 were retired officers older than 60 years, and three serving military or civilian personnel.

All of the deceased were Covid-19 positive at the time of their death and were suffering from various incurable physical ailments for some time.

A total of 13 RT-PCR machines are functional across all CMHs, including the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), to test suspected samples of Covid-19 from members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, their families, and retired personnel.

All CMHs have adequate stocks of PPE, masks, gloves, and ancillary medical equipment, including essential medicines.

Till now, 17,151 samples have been tested in these labs.

Trained doctors of the Army are providing treatment to these people, maintaining all health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.
