One in every five suspected patients, who underwent a test, were found Covid-19 positive in Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the health authorities tested 12,510 samples across the country and 2,695 of them — or 21.54% — came back positive.

Just a month ago, on May 2, the daily positive percentage was only 9.47%.
But that jumped to nearly 23%, an all-time high of the total number of samples tested coming back positive in a 24-hour span, on Tuesday.

Until Wednesday noon, the country recorded 55,140 Covid-19 cases and 746 deaths from the deadly disease since March 8, when the first three cases were detected.
