Former Head of the Orthopaedic Department of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Prof Dr Mosharraf Hossain died due to the coronavirus following a cardiac arrest.
He breathed his last around 2:17pm on Monday at the intensive care unit (ICU) of United Hospital in the capital, where he was undergoing treatment.
A doctor who works at the ICU of United Hospital confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
According to the ICU physician, he was infected with the coronavirus and was suffering from other diseases as well.
On May 20, the deceased was admitted to United Hospital as he tested positive for Covid-19. He was being monitored 24 hours in the ICU, where he died after five days, the United Hospital doctor added.
Dr Mosharraf Hossain was also the head of the Orthopaedic Department at the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
