A total of 1,119 members of police in Bangladesh have recovered from Covid-19 infection so far.
“Many of them [police personnel who recovered from the infection] have rejoined work in order to serve the people,” Md Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media) at Police Headquarter, said on Tuesday.
He also said the recovery rate has been rapidly increasing as advanced and consistent treatment is being provided at the Central Police Hospital.
According to the police headquarter, 4,053 police members, including 152 new cases, have been infected coronavirus while undertaking their duties during Covid-19 pandemic.
Among them, 14 policemen have died from the deadly virus.
He also said various preventive measures have been taken to reduce the risk of corona infection among police members as per the directive of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.
At the same time, adequate medical equipment have been added to all the police hospitals, including the private hospitals, to ensure the best services and care for the infected police personnel, he added.
