Another ACC employee dies of Covid-19

Another employee of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has died from the novel coronavirus.

Khalilur Rahman, an employee of the commission, died at 2:00 pm while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Corona Unit on Saturday, DMCH Director Brig Gen Dr AKM Nasir Uddin said.

The deceased was admitted to Square Hospital with cardiac infections, and had been suffering from other diseases too. However, he tested positive for Covid-19, said the DMCH director.

On Friday night at around 8:00 pm, he was shifted to DMCH when his condition worsened. He was taken to the general ward instead of the intensive care unit (ICU) due to a lack of beds there.

There are only 10 ICU beds which are now occupied by coronavirus patients, said Dr AKM Nasir Uddin.

We tried to provide him with full treatment, but he didn’t respond. His blood pressure began to fall since being taken to the hospital,” said the DMCH director.

ACC director (media) Pronob Kumar Bhattacharya said that Khalilur was a head assistant in the upper division at the ACC head office.

Hailing from Jhalokati district, Khalilur left behind his wife and three daughters.

Earlier on April 6, ACC Director Jalal Saifur Rahman died following a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection at Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital.
