No going home for Eid this year

The government has placed a ban on all inter-district transport services during the general Eid-ul-Fitr holiday this year to prevent people going to their village homes.

"No-one will be allowed to leave their workplaces during the Eid holidays. Inter-district transport services will remain shut during the time period," the Cabinet Division announced on Monday.

It also said public movement between districts and upazilas would be restricted during the general holiday that has been extended till May 16.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification extending the ongoing shutdown till May 16.

District administrations and law enforcement agencies are expected to cautiously monitor the restrictions, it added.
