Coronavirus: Doctors, nurses get 90,115 protective gears in Khulna

Government has distributed a total of 90,115 coronavirus protective gears so far among the doctors and nurses in Khulna division to protect themselves from the fast spreading coronavirus.

Director of Khulna Divisional Health Office Dr Rasheda Sultana said: “We’ve so far distributed 25,307 personal protective equipment (PPE), 2,231 N95 masks, 57,619 hand gloves and 4,958 disinfectants among the doctors, nurses, and health workers in the division”.

She also said 32,220 PPEs, 18,701 hand gloves, and 559 N95 masks are still in stock for distribution, reports BSS.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,272 people are now in quarantine after releasing 13,796 people out of totally isolated 19,568 people in the division since the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

“5,272 people are still in quarantine as there are symptoms of community transmission in the country. Comprehensive steps have been taken to prevent further spread of the virus in the division,” said Assistant Director of Khulna Divisional Health Office Dr Ferdousi Akther.

As five people have tested positive for Covid-19 till April 14 in the division, 393 more people were put under home or institutional quarantine in the last 24 hours as of 8am on Saturday to prevent the virus’s community transmission, she said.

Among 393 quarantined persons, 331 people were placed in home quarantine while 62 others in institutional quarantine, she said, adding that “Of them, three are in quarantine in Khulna, 70 in Bagerhat, two in Satkhira, 103 in Jashore, 20 in Jhenaidah, 96 in Magura, 36 in Narail, 31 in Chuadanga, and 32 in Meherpur”.

A total of 272 people were also released from home or institutional quarantine in last 24 hours, she continued.

“Till April 14 last, a total of five people – one in Khulna, one in Jaessore, one in Narail, one in Bagerhat, and one in Chuadanga districts – have been tested Covid-19 positive in the division,” she said.
