A private hospital in Noakhali has been locked down for 14 days starting from Monday after health authorities found out that an Italy returnee took treatment there and died of coronavirus (Covid-19).
The deceased Morshedul Alam, 45, received treatment at the Prime Hospital in Begumganj upazila on April 5 and was transferred to the Noakhali 250 Bed General Hospital on April 8.
Noakhali Civil Surgeon Dr Md Mominur Rahman said Prime Hospital had not informed them of the patient’s symptoms thus they could not lock down the hospital earlier.
Italy returnee Morshedul died on the way to Dhaka on April 9. His samples were later sent for tests and the reports came positive for coronavirus. “The hospital was locked down to serve the best interest of the people and its patients. Additionally every doctor, nurse, and other hospital staff were ordered to stay in home quarantine, while the hospital will be disinfected,” added the civil surgeon.
