A woman was abandoned in a Tangail forest by her family when they suspected her of being infected with Covid-19.
The woman was discovered shouting for help near Icchadighi village in Gajaria union of Sakhipur in Tangail, confirmed Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Manna Miya.
Quoting the woman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asmaul Husna Liza said the woman is from Nalitabari in Sherpur and her husband and sons work for a garment factory in Salna of Gazipur. “They took her to the forest at night and left the scene saying they would take her back in the morning,” Asmaul Husna said.
Sakhipur upazila health complex Resident Medical Officer, Shahinur Alam, said the woman was suffering from fever, cough, and breathing difficulties. She was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in an ambulance and was kept in the isolation ward.
Elderly woman cast out of village in Sunamganj
A ninety year old woman had to stay as a homeless person for two days after her sons and neighbors cast her out of village suspecting that she showed symptoms of coronavirus.
The woman roamed around the streets of Niyamutpur village in Shalla upazila since Sunday and finally her sons took her in on Tuesday after being pressurized from law enforcers, reports our correspondent Himadri Shekhor Vodro from Sunamganj.
The woman said she was thrown out of the village after being falsely accused of visiting a home where people have been staying in quarantine.
Shalla Upazila Nirbahi Officer Al Muktadir said actions will be taken if the incident is repeated.
