So far, 17 people have died in the deadly Covid-19 outbreak since the first three cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8.
The country's first death from the deadly contagious disease, which has killed 81,000 people globally since late December last year, was reported on March 18.
Here is the summary of these 17 deaths:
Death 1: March 18
The first death occurred on March 18 and he was a 70 year old man. He was suffering from comorbid conditions including cardiac problems, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and diabetes.
He contracted the virus from a Bangladeshi who had recently returned and then left the country.
However, sources of infection of the second, third and fourth Covid-19 deaths are unidentified.
Death 2: March 21
On March 21, the second person died from Covid-19 and he was 73 years old. He had multiple pre-existing complications from various non-communicable diseases.
But the deceased was not in any confirmed close contact with any overseas returnee. Neither had any of his family members come from abroad nor did any expatriate visit his house.
However, Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director of the IEDCR said, two expatriates were in that locality and the deceased was probably infected from them and they will investigate the matter.
Death 3: March 23
On March 23, IEDCR announced the third Covid-19 death. No details on how he was infected, his age, and comorbidity were mentioned in the short press conference.
Later it was found that he was above 70 and had comorbidity.
Death 4: March 24
The fourth deceased, a septuagenarian woman who died in a hospital in the capital on March 24 raised further concerns about community transmission of the virus.
The woman did not have any foreign travel history and her source of infection is still undetected.
In an online press conference on March 24, Meerjady Sabrina Flora said: “She [the fourth person to die] had long been under treatment in the hospital for other complications. It is yet to be established how she got Covid-19.”
Death 5: March 25
The country confirmed one more death in Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital which was the fifth death from Covid-19. The deceased was a 65-year-old man.
He was a family member of an overseas returnee. He had diabetes as well as hypertension and died on Wednesday morning, said Meerjady Sabrina Flora.
Death 6: April 1
Government did not disclose the person who died from Covid-19 on April 1. Health Minister Zahid Maleque on that day briefed online.
Meanwhile, a 65 year old, suspected to be a Covid-19 case, died at Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital having irreversible cardio respiratory failure and was buried at Taltola graveyard in Khilgaon, Dhaka.
However it was not confirmed if he was the sixth person to die from Covid-19 in the country.
Death 7 and 8: April 4
One of the deceased was a 90 year old and the other was 68, with both males having histories of heart disease and stroke respectively.
The 90 year-old had a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) with left side hemiparesis and the other had bilateral pneumonia for seven days.
Death 9: April 5
The ninth patient to die from Covid-19 is a 55 year old man from Narayanganj.
He had type-II respiratory failure and was suffering from atypical pneumonia.
Death 10, 11, 12: April 6
Three died in Habiganj, Gazipur, and Gaibandha districts. Among the three, a 52 year old had an irreversible cardio respiratory failure.
Death 13-17: April 7
Of the five deceased, four were male and one female.
Of them, two were above sixty years old, two were between the ages of 50 and 60, and another was between 40 to 50 years of age.
