A Bangladeshi elderly man died from coronavirus in Jackson Heights of New York on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nur Mohammad Patwary Pran, 84, from Faridganj upazila of Chandpur, reports UNB.
His son Mahbubur Rahman Milon said his father, who had underlying health conditions, was in home quarantine since he was found infected with the novel coronavirus few days back.
He died around 10am Friday (Bangladesh time), Milon added.
Nur Mohammad along with his family members migrated to the US in 2004.
According to media reports, some 200 Bangladeshis in total have tested Covid-19 positive in the US and 56 of them died until April 3.
According to wordometer, the United States and its territories so far have reported 277,522 Covid-19 cases and 7,403 deaths.
In Bangladesh, until Saturday, the deadly virus infected at least 70 people and killed eight, according to health authorities.
