Hospitals to get kidney dialysis centres

Kidney dialysis centres will be set up in all medical college hospitals and sadar hospitals at the district level across Bangladesh.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek made the statement at project review meeting of the ministry held at the secretariat in Dhaka, on Tuesday, reports BSS.

The minister said a total of 50 beds will be set up at medical college hospitals for kidney dialysis while 10 beds will be set up at the sadar hospital level.

Malek said a project was approved in the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in this regard. The project will be completed by 2022.

The minister said about 1.90 crore people of Bangladesh are suffering from kidney diseases and 17.3% people are affected by chronic kidney diseases every year.

He hoped that the people would be benefitted after setting up the centers in all medical college hospitals and sadar hospitals at district level.

Directorate General of Health Services Director General Prof.Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Additional Secretary Md Habibur Rahman and Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery Director General Siddiqua Akter and senior officials of the ministry were present in the meeting.
