CCGP approves Tk1,082 cr LNG, urea fertilizer purchases

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday approved the procurement of one spot LNG cargo and 30,000 tons of urea fertiliser involving Tk1,082.06 crore.

The approvals were given at a meeting of the committee with Finance Minister Amir Khasru Chowdhury in the chair following proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and the Ministry of Industries.

Under the first proposal, the committee approved the purchase of one LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) cargo for the delivery window of August 15-16, 2026. Singapore-based Vitol Asia Pte Ltd emerged as the recommended supplier by offering the lowest evaluated price of $22.35 per MMBtu.

The total contract value for the LNG cargo stands at Tk949.43 crore, inclusive of Advance Income Tax (AIT).

It also approved the procurement of 30,000 tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) for the first lot of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The procurement will cost Tk132.63 crore, with the fertiliser priced at $357.25 per ton.
