Shaugatul Alam has been appointed managing director (MD) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), according to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nur-A-Alam, said Shaugatul Alam will hold the rank and status of an Additional Secretary in his new role.
Prior to this appointment, he served as director general of Novotheatre planetarium.
Earlier on March 2, the appointment of former metro rail MD Faruk Ahmed was cancelled through a notification issued by the MRT Branch of the Road Transport and Highways Division under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.
With the latest appointment, the leadership of the country’s metro rail operating authority has been reshuffled amid administrative changes in the transport sector.
