Basir Jamal made new MD of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust

Senior journalist Mohammad Abdul Basir, also known as Basir Jamal, has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust.

Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard under the President’s order on Tuesday.

Basir Jamal currently serves as the senior assistant secretary general of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and the chief reporter of the daily Amar Desh. He has been appointed to the MD position for a one-year term.

According to the notification, under Section 10(2) of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust Act, 2014, Basir Jamal will assume the role on a contractual basis. The appointment requires him to resign from any other employment or affiliation with institutions or organizations. Other terms and conditions of the contract will be determined accordingly.

The government stated that the order has been issued in the public interest.
