CA Yunus congratulates EC on polls, referendum schedule announcement

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday congratulated the Election Commission on announcing the schedule for the 13th National Parliament election and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Accord 2025.

In a message of felicitation, he said: “With the announcement of this schedule, Bangladesh’s democratic journey has crossed a significant milestone. Following the historic popular uprising, the country is moving forward on a new path—this election and referendum will reinforce that trajectory, uphold the will of the people, and further consolidate the foundation of a new Bangladesh.”

He added: “I am confident that the Election Commission will discharge its constitutional duties independently, impartially, and with the highest degree of professionalism. The interim government will provide all necessary support to ensure the election and referendum are conducted in a festive, participatory, and completely fair manner.”

Addressing political parties, candidates, media, civil society, and the people of Bangladesh, the chief adviser urged, “Embrace this election and referendum as a national initiative for unity. Respect for differing opinions, a peaceful environment, and adherence to democratic conduct will strengthen the stability of our days ahead.”

He concluded: “Bangladesh now stands at the threshold of a new future. Through active participation and responsible conduct, I am confident we will succeed in building a modern, just, and prosperous nation.”
