The interim government's Advisory Council held a meeting on Thursday to address the ongoing issues of waterlogging and flooding caused by excessive rainfall across the country.
The 33rd meeting of the council took place in the office of the chief adviser, where necessary measures were discussed.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, according to information provided by the Cabinet Division.
The Cabinet Division reported that the recent incidents of flooding and waterlogging in Feni and Noakhali due to heavy rainfall were discussed in detail.
Relevant advisers delivered statements on the flood situation and the subsequent measures undertaken.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Water Resources briefed the council on the finalization of designs for the Musapur regulator and Bamni closure, the approval of a permanent embankment project in Feni and the necessity of restoring the canals and drainage systems in Noakhali.
Additionally, the council was informed that under World Bank financing, repair works are underway on damaged embankments, riverbank protection structures and water control infrastructure in the three affected districts.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, along with local administrations, also presented updates on the actions taken thus far.
