The government has declared August 5 as a public holiday to commemorate the July uprising, and July 16 as Martyrs' Day.
The Cabinet Division issued two gazette notifications in this regard on Wednesday.
On June 26, the government announced August 5 as 'July Uprising Day' and August 8 as 'New Bangladesh Day,' commemorating key events in the country's recent history.
August 8 marks the day when the interim government was formed following the overthrow of the previous government amid a mass uprising by students and the public.
Besides, the government declared July 16 as Martyred Abu Sayed Day, in remembrance of the student who was killed in police firing in Rangpur during the mass movement.
Meanwhile, a 36-member national committee was formed to oversee the observance of mass uprising days in July and August, marking the anniversary of last year's student-led movement.
The 36-day-long program will be celebrated from July 1 to August 5 to mark the anniversary of the July uprising.
