Nasiruddin Patwari calls Hasnat Abdullah’s Facebook post unethical

National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari has termed a recent Facebook status by the party’s Chief Organizer (South) Hasnat Abdullah regarding a meeting at the cantonment as "unethical."

He made the remark while speaking to journalists before attending an iftar gathering in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon.

"His (Hasnat Abdullah's) statement should not have been posted on social media. We consider it unethical. In the functional space of the state, we see various individuals from the cantonment interfering in political matters. We do not want such interference. Political decisions should be made by political figures, and we urge government institutions to refrain from involvement in this process," he said.

In response to a question, Nasiruddin Patwari said: "We completely disagree with the chief adviser’s statement about the Awami League. Whether it is the chief adviser or anyone else obstructing the process of banning, branding, and opposing the Awami League’s ideology, we will resist them. We will not back down."

Speaking as the chief guest at an iftar mahfil organized by NCP Sylhet district at a convention centre in Arambagh, he said: "There are two battles left for the mass uprising — one is the reform process, and the other is banning and deregistering the Awami League."

"We want those responsible for the deaths and injuries of 2,000 of our brothers and sisters to be banned through judicial processes. There is no chance for Awami League to participate in the next election."

Patwari further warned that any attempt to allow Awami League to participate in politics — whether by the cantonment or any political party — would be met with a strong student-led movement.

"The people of Sylhet have joined this long struggle. We thank them for their support," he added.

He also promised major development projects if his party came to power.

"If we can form a government, we will solve all problems. We will work to establish an international airport in Sylhet and upgrade the four-lane road to eight lanes. We are committed to building a beautiful Sylhet with contributions from all sections of society."

During the pre-iftar discussion, a heated argument broke out among some attendees. When journalists recorded the incident, some organizers attacked them.

Just before iftar, the journalists left the venue.
