Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has handed out the Ekushey Padak 2025 to 18 distinguished individuals and the Bangladesh women's national football team for their significant contributions to their respective fields.
The awards were presented during a ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday morning.
This year, the award in the field of film was given posthumously to Azizur Rahman. In music, the recipients were Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumous) and Ferdous Ara.
Moeedul Hassan received the award in research, while Dr Niaz Zaman was honoured for education. In photography, Nasir Ali Mamun was recognized, and in painting, Rokeya Sultana received the award. The field of journalism saw a posthumous award for Mahfuz Ullah.
In science and technology, the award went to Mehdi Hasan Khan, as the team leader, along with Rifat Nabi, Md Tanbin Islam Siam, and Shabab Mustafa as team members, for their creation Avro keyboard.
Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury was posthumously recognized for his contributions to social work. Mahmudur Rahman received the award for journalism and human rights.
In language and literature, posthumous awards were given to Helal Hafiz and Shahidul Jahir (Md Shahidul Haque). Dr Shahidul Alam was honoured for his work in culture and education.
In the field of sports, the whole Bangladesh National Women's Football Team received the prestigious award.
