Dialogue between Yunus and political parties underway

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has sat down with leaders of political parties like BNP, Jamaat and others for a dialogue to forge national unity.

The meeting started at 4pm on Wednesday at the state guest house, Sugandha.

The BNP delegation was led by Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, accompanied by Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.

Additionally, a Jamaat delegation, led by its Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, also participated, alongside the representatives of other political parties.

National People’s Party (NPP) Chairman AZM Fariduzzaman Farhad and LDP President Colonel (Retd) Oli Ahmad arrived at the venue at the same time. 

Colonel Oli left early after being unable to gain entry due to his name being absent from the list. This was confirmed by LDP Joint Secretary Abdur Razzak.

Jatiya Party Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu said that their party was not invited to the briefing by the government.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam announced in a press briefing on Tuesday that the Chief Adviser would hold meetings with political parties, student organizations and religious leaders to call for national unity. 

Wednesday's meeting with political parties is part of this initiative.
