Asif Nazrul seeks apology to people for price hike of essentials

Seeking an apology from the people suffering due to the rising prices of essential commodities, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said that the government is working hard and taking joint efforts to improve the situation.

"I am sincerely apologizing to you. I feel deeply sorry. This situation is intolerable to us, and we are working very hard. We are working together to address this issue," he said.

The law adviser said this in response to a question from Daily Manabzamin Chief Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury during a program titled Ajker Patrika, aired on Channel I late Thursday night.

Asif Nazrul expressed hope that the situation would improve with the impact of recent floods decreasing and winter approaching. "We expect the situation to improve significantly. In some areas, conditions have already started getting better," he added.

He also pointed to a powerful syndicate involved in the import of essential commodities during the previous government, acknowledging the difficulty in addressing their influence.

"The syndicate is very powerful, and it's not easy to dismantle," Asif Nazrul said.

He assured that the government is doing everything possible to address the price hikes and highlighted the steps taken so far to cool down the market.

"This issue causes all of us in the government great concern and mental distress," the law adviser concluded.
