The Liberation War Affairs Ministry has issued a gazette notification recognizing 1,256 people as freedom fighters.
The gazette was published on Tuesday, following a decision taken at the 66th meeting of the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) as per section 7 (Jha) of the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) Act-2002, according to a press release quoted by BSS.
The gazette is available on the website of Bangladesh Government (BG) Press (www.bgpress.gov.bd), the release added.
According to the press release, the gazette of the 1,256 newly recognized freedom fighters was published after scrutinizing about 150,000 applications in three phases.
The list was finalized at the meeting of Jamuka after getting checked by upazila level and district level scrutinizing committees.
The newly enlisted freedom fighters will enjoy all facilities provided by the state for freedom fighters, the release said.
