The Land Ministry has issued an order, extending the deadline for paying dues and the current year’s land development tax to May 13, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
The order was issued in accordance with a directive from Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, stated a Land Ministry press release.
According to existing rules, the 30th Chaitra of the Bangla calendar (April 13) is the deadline for paying the yearly land development tax, the release states.
This year the deadline has been extended by one month because restrictions on people’s movement have been put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19. The extension gives people more time to make the payments during the crisis.
Meanwhile, the Land Service Week and the Land Development Tax Fair-2020 programs will also be postponed until further notice, stated the release.
In Bangladesh, coronavirus has thus far infected 330 people and killed 21 people.
Globally, the disease has infected 1,529,968 people and killed 89,426 people so far.
