The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has opened an inquiry over the gross irregularities in purchasing medical books.
A three-member committee headed by Additional Director General HM Enayet Hossain was formed on Sunday to investigate the irregularities, confirmed DGHS chief Abul Kalam Azad.
“The probe committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days,” he said.
Director Samir Kanti Sarker and Deputy Director KM Tarique of DGHS Management Information Service division will also accompany the team .
The committee was formed following a Bangla Tribune report titled ‘Government medical book purchase marred by irregularities.’
The report said that the DGHS has been paying around double to 15 times the market price for the books purchased for the medical colleges across the country.
