Tourism state minister says 800 tourist destinations identified in the country

Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister, Md Mahbub Ali says 800 tourist destinations have been identified in the country.

He said this in answering a question from Jatiya Party Feni 3 MP Masud Uddin Chowdhury in parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, on Sunday.

“A mega plan has been taken in hand to develop the tourism sector of the country,” Mahbub said.

Answering a question asked by Dhaka 11 MP AKM Rahmatullah, the state minister said: “Bangladesh has agreements with 53 countries for flight operations. About 325 flights of various airline companies operate flights to Bangladesh every week.

“Of the flights, 53 are from India, 78 from UAE, 42 from Malaysia, 16 from Singapore, Bhutan four; Qatar 29; Thailand 21; Pakistan four, Kuwait 12; Saudi Arabia 31, Sri Lanka seven, China 16, Bahrain five, Azerbaijan three, and four flights are from Oman.”

Biman loses Tk201 crore in 2017-18 fiscal year

Answering a question from Habiganj 1 MP, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz, Mahbub said: “In fiscal year 2017-18 Biman lost Tk201.47 crore.”

The minister said: “The losses incurred due to the increase in the price of fuel for aircrafts, losses against foreign currency, and losses due to the use of aircrafts on the basis of Aircraft Crew Maintenance Insurance (ACMI).”
