There are some 336,746 posts vacant posts in different government offices, according to State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain.
However, the government has taken various measures to fill up these posts, he told parliament on Sunday, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench lawmaker Shamsul HaqueTuku (Pabna 5 constituency).
Farhad said Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has recommended the government to appoint 1,289 candidates who qualified in the 37th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
There is an ongoing process to fill up 8,719 vacant posts in different cadres through 38th, 39th and 40th BCS examinations.
Of these, 2,024 vacant posts will be filled up through 38th BCS exam; 4,792 vacant posts through 39th BCS exam; and 1,903 vacant posts through 40th BCS exam.
