The government decided to appoint M Fazlul Karim, currently serving as Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico, as the new Bangladesh envoy to China.
A career diplomat, Karim belongs to the 1984 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre, says a press release of the foreign ministry.
In his illustrious diplomatic career, he served at Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, Bangladesh embassy in Jakarta, Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC, Bangladesh high commission in Islamabad and Bangladesh Consulate General in Hong Kong in various capacities.
He has also served as Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Karim obtained his graduate and post-graduate degrees from the University of Dhaka on International Relations.
He attended a number of overseas training programmes on international law, international development issues, peace keeping operation, commercial representation and law of the seas at various reputed institutes.
He is married with two sons and a daughter.
