US Ambassador Dan Mozena has said he does not see potentials less than problems in Bangladesh.
There are many potentials as well as many problems and crises in Bangladesh, he said at a views exchange meeting at Chandpur Circuit House yesterday.
The problems and crises, like red-tapism, corruption and lack of good governance, however can be solved by its own people. It just requires them to come forward proactively, he said.
Mozena praised Bangladesh for the enterprising approach of its people.
Disagreeing with others who brand Bangladesh as a poor country, he effusively said, he would like to put Bangladesh in the category of the rich countries rather than that of the poor ones given the enterprising approach of its people.
Saying that the garments industry needs to be built well and good governance established, he also said decisions, not money, matter for doing these things.
The US envoy opined that Bangladesh could soon become not only a middle income country but also a rich country if decisions were taken rightly at the right time.
Calling the developed education system the biggest challenge for Bangladesh, he said the US is a development partner of Bangladesh and for the development of education and health, the US is deeply working with Bangladesh.
Local MP and former home minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir received the US ambassador in Chandpur.
