Two Bangladeshi nationals were killed in Libya last Tuesday after being caught amid clashes in Serraj area of Tripoli.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Manir of Narsingdi and Milon of Jessore, said a press release of the foreign ministry. Bangladesh embassy officials visited the hospital they were in and confirmed the deaths. Their dead bodies will be brought to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
Another Bangladeshi was also injured in the incident.
Earlier on July 30, two other Bangladeshis were also killed in a similar incident in Benghazi. Benghazi is around 1100 kilometers east of Tripoli and presently there is no air connectivity between the two cities. Due to the difficulties in communication, their names and other particulars could not yet be obtained.
The foreign ministry had said they were closely monitoring “the evolving situation” in Libya. Many Bangladesh nationals had been moved to safer areas earlier and all had been advised “to remain alert and avoid conflict zones.”
