The government has decided to appoint Md Sufiur Rahman, currently serving as high commissioner in Sri Lanka, as the new ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar.
Tarik Ahsan, currently a director general at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, has been appointed as the new high commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka.
Both career diplomats, Sufiur and Tarik belong to the ninth batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.
In his diplomatic career, Sufiur has worked at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and Islamabad as well as in the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva in various capacities.
He also served in the Saarc Secretariat as a director.
Tarik served in Bangladesh Missions in New York, Riyadh, Jakarta and Berlin in various capacities. Graduated from Buet, he did a post-graduate diploma in international relations and development from the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, the Netherlands.
