BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury has said Indian wanted to establish a good relationship with the people of Bangladesh, not with any specific political party.
He made the comment while talking to journalists after the per-scheduled meeting between BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has begun at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Friday morning.
Quoting the visiting Indian minister, Shamser Mubin said: “The Indian government is interested in keeping good relationship with the people of Bangladesh, not with any specific political party.

The relationship will be established between the people of the two countries, not between the political parties.”
The BNP has also urged India to take quick steps in order to resolving the longstanding bilateral issues between the two countries.
Shamser Mubin said:“During the meeting, the BNP chief has discussed a number of bilateral issues with the visiting Indian minister. She requested Sushma to take quick step for resolving the longstanding bilateral issues between Bangladesh and India.”
“In reply, Sushma assured her to look into the matter sincerely.”
The meeting started at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital around 10:15am.
Among others, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khaleda's Advisers Shamser Mubin Chowdhury, Reaz Rahman and Sabeh Uddin Ahmed and BNP Standing Committee Member Abdul Moin Khan attended the meeting.
Sushma Swaraj arrived Dhaka on Wednesday on a three-day official visit.
During her visit, Sushma held talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Bangladeshi counterpart Mahmood Ali.
The Indian minister met opposition leader Rawshan Ershad and two advisers of the prime minister, Gowher Rizvi and Mashiur Rahman, on Friday morning.
Later, she left Dhaka for India around 2pm.
