China to continue supporting Bangladesh’s defence modernization

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Thursday reiterated China’s commitment to supporting the modernization of Bangladesh’s defence sector.

He made the remarks during a courtesy call on Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at his office at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment, according to the Inter-Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR).

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen existing military and defence cooperation between Bangladesh and China.

They particularly discussed advanced professional training for members of the two countries’ armed forces, exchanges in military education and enhancing technical capabilities.

They expressed hope that greater exchanges of experience and expanded training cooperation to address modern military challenges would further strengthen defence ties between the two countries.

The defence adviser highlighted the long-standing friendly relations and strategic partnership between Bangladesh and China, as well as China’s support for Bangladesh’s development. He expressed hope that bilateral cooperation would expand further in the future.

The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to continued cooperation and support for the modernization of Bangladesh’s defence sector.

The two sides also expressed their resolve to expand defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest and further strengthen Bangladesh-China relations.
