National Citizens Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said the party views the Makkah Pact positively, while its subcommittee is closely monitoring the issue.
He made the remarks at a press conference at the airport on Monday morning after returning home from performing Umrah.
The Makkah Pact, also known as the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, is a trilateral defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey.
Asif Mahmud also alleged that a syndicate linked to the ruling BNP had become active again, saying airfares to Saudi Arabia had fallen during the interim government but increased after the BNP came to power.
He also referred to the ongoing gas and electricity crises, alleging that prices and extortion had increased across sectors since the election.
“The people are in a state of despair,” he said, urging the government to take swift measures to address the situation.
