US Embassy explains when student visas may be cancelled

The US Embassy in Dhaka has clarified the circumstances under which student visas for those studying in the United States may be cancelled.

The embassy issued a statement on Saturday.

It said a student’s visa may be cancelled if they drop out of school, stop attending classes or withdraw from their study programme without informing their educational institution.

Such actions could also affect their eligibility for a US visa in the future, the embassy said.

To avoid complications, students should comply with the terms of their visas and maintain their legal status while studying in the United States, it added.
