Pakistani Envoy, wife hospitalised after fire at official residence

Pakistani High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and his spouse have been hospitalised as a precautionary measure after a fire broke out at the envoy's official residence early Thursday.

The fire erupted around 3:00am, according to the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka.

Firefighters responded promptly and extinguished the fire, it said, adding that the High Commissioner and his wife were taken to hospital as a precaution following the incident.

Their health condition is stable, the High Commission said.
