The government is working to resolve visa-related issues affecting Bangladeshi workers seeking employment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur has said.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the state minister said the government is aware of the ongoing visa issues and is engaging with the relevant authorities to find a solution.
"We are aware of the UAE visa complications. Discussions are underway with the concerned authorities to resolve the matter," he wrote, adding that the government remains committed to protecting the interests of its citizens.
"If we can do something positive for our expatriates, it will be good both for them and for the government," he said.
Nur acknowledged that the frustration among migrant workers is understandable, attributing it to years of mismanagement and neglect.
He said efforts have been underway since he assumed office to improve the situation.
"Let's see how much we can achieve. It may take time, but I hope we will be able to bring positive changes," he wrote.
