India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said India and Bangladesh have agreed to maintain close communication, signaling continued engagement between the two countries.
The remark came after a meeting between Jaishankar and Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman at Hyderabad House in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.
Jaishankar shared the update on X following the meeting.
“Pleased to host FM Khalilur Rahman of Bangladesh and his delegation this afternoon. We discussed strengthening our bilateral relationship in its various facets. Also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Agreed to remain in close touch,” he wrote.
Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kabir and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India M Riaz Hamidullah were also present at the meeting.
This marks the first high-level visit to India since the BNP government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, assumed office, following a period of significant strain in bilateral relations.
