Bangladeshis must obtain Egypt transit visa in advance

Bangladeshi citizens will now be required to obtain transit visas in advance from Dhaka when travelling through Egypt, the Egyptian Embassy in Dhaka has said.

The new requirement was announced in a statement issued by the embassy on Monday.

According to the statement, travellers must secure the transit visa beforehand through the Egyptian Embassy in Dhaka. Applicants are required to have a valid passport and, where applicable, a valid visa or residence permit for their final destination.

The embassy said Egypt must be a transit point on the traveller’s route to another country, and entry will be subject to compliance with Egyptian immigration regulations.

It also urged passengers to obtain the necessary visa prior to travel to avoid inconvenience, advising them to contact the embassy’s consular section for further details and application procedures.

However, the embassy noted that previous provisions for visa on arrival—applicable for travellers holding valid visas from selected countries—will remain in place for long transit purposes. Such visas are valid for up to 72 hours and do not apply to short layovers.
