Rubio-Yunus phone call: Bangladesh, US reaffirm shared commitment to deepening economic ties

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday evening, with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening economic ties between the two countries.

The US top diplomat and the chief adviser also affirmed their shared commitment to “enhancing security and stability” throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

“The secretary and chief adviser affirmed their shared commitment to deepening economic ties between the United States and Bangladesh and to enhancing security and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region,” US Department of State spokesperson Tammy Bruce said after the telephone conversation.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said they held the telephone conversation at 7:30pm.

“The 15-minute discussion was warm, cordial and constructive, reflecting excellent bilateral engagement between the two nations,” Shafiqul said.
