A total of 79,158 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia on 204 flights since April 29, according to officials.
The last flight carrying pilgrims from Dhaka is scheduled to depart on Saturday.
"A total of 87,100 Bangladeshis are set to perform the holy Hajj this year. Of them, 5,200 will do so under government arrangements, while private operators will facilitate the pilgrimage for the remaining 81,900," said M Lokman Hossain, director of the Hajj office under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
He said that on Friday alone, three Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights carrying 1,257 pilgrims, one Saudi Airlines flight with 405 pilgrims, and four Flynas Airlines flights with 1,224 pilgrims have either departed or are scheduled to depart for Jeddah.
The director also mentioned that the ministry is issuing regular Hajj bulletins, with the latest reporting the deaths of 12 pilgrims in Saudi Arabia due to old age or various health conditions in recent days.
So far, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has operated 102 flights, transporting 39,416 pilgrims. Saudi Airlines has operated 75 flights with 28,242 pilgrims, while Riyadh-based Flynas Airlines has carried 11,000 pilgrims on 27 flights.
According to the Hajj office bulletin, the aviation plan includes a total of 118 flights by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 80 by Saudi Airlines, and 34 by Flynas Airlines.
Officials said the remaining 7,799 pilgrims are scheduled to reach Saudi Arabia for Hajj by Saturday.
The first Hajj flight, carrying 398 pilgrims, departed from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on April 29.
Return flights are scheduled to begin on June 10 and continue until July 10.
