Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin on Sunday urged Maldivian entrepreneurs to invest more in Bangladesh.
The adviser made the comment during a meeting with Maldives High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed, at the Secretariat in the capital, according to a press release.
"Bangladesh is producing high-quality construction materials. With the production of plywood, pipes, tiles, and premium glass, Bangladesh has now become a reliable source for these products. The Maldives can utilize them in its infrastructure development," Bashir said.
During the meeting, they discussed in detail the development of bilateral relations and the expansion of trade.
Emphasizing that increased bilateral trade would strengthen both economies, Bashir noted that the Maldives could also contribute to developing skilled human resources in Bangladesh by providing training.
Shiuneen Rasheed said that Bangladesh and the Maldives share brotherly relations.
"The enhancement of bilateral trade will further deepen the ties between the two countries," the adviser said.
Additional Secretary (FTA) of the Ministry of Commerce Ayesha Akhter, and Second Secretary of the Maldives High Commission Ahmed Maishan, were also present at the meeting.
