Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and other Bimstec leaders on Friday observed one minute of silence in remembrance of the victims of a recent earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, at the sixth Bimstec summit.
In his speech at the Bimstec summit, the chief adviser expressed his heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the governments and peoples of Thailand and Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that caused a significant loss of life and property in both countries.
He said Bangladesh stands in solidarity with the brothers and sisters of Thailand and Myanmar during this difficult time.
“We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the quick recovery of the injured,” Yunus said.
“I am confident that, given your strong leadership and the government’s efforts, you will be able to overcome the challenges and restore normalcy in the affected areas,” he added.
