23 abducted Bangladeshis rescued in Libya

23 Bangladeshi nationals who were abducted in Libya have been rescued after local authorities conducted a raid in the Misrata area, according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya.

Security forces carried out the operation following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Libya into allegations of kidnapping and torture of foreign nationals for ransom in the Al-Ghairan police station area of Misrata.

During the operation, two suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in the abduction.

The rescued Bangladeshis and the detained suspects have been handed over to the Al-Ghairan police station for further legal proceedings.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya expressed deep gratitude to the Libyan law enforcement agencies for their swift and effective action.

The embassy is also in close contact with local authorities to ensure legal and consular support for the released Bangladeshi nationals.
