Bangladesh and Japan on Wednesday discussed the progress of projects undertaken under the public-private partnership (PPP) platform in Bangladesh, particularly the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Terminal 3 project, as well as cooperation in the country's railway and road transport sectors.
A Bangladesh delegation, led by Chief Adviser's Principal Secretary M Siraz Uddin Miah, held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Vice Minister for Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hirofumi Amakawa at the ministry in Tokyo to discuss these matters.
The Bangladesh delegation informed the Japanese side that preparations for cargo and ground handling operations at Terminal 3 are progressing to facilitate the swift opening of the new terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Siraz assured the Japanese delegation of the Bangladesh government's full cooperation in this regard.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the Kamalapur Multimodal Transport Hub, MRT Line 6, and Dhaka Outer Ring Road 2 and 3 projects.
Additionally, Bangladesh sought Japan’s cooperation in attracting Japanese investment in the country's tourism sector.
Assistant Vice Minister for Engineering and Housing Affairs Yosuke Tsutsumi, along with senior officials of the ministry, was present at the meeting.
