Army chief returns following Kuwait visit

Army Chief General General Waker-Uz-Zaman along with a five-member delegation, returned to Bangladesh on Wednesday after completing his visit to Kuwait.

During the visit, the army chief paid courtesy calls on the acting chief of staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces, Major General Pilot Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al Sabah, secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Dr Abdullah Meshal Mubarak Abdullah A AlSabah, and secretary of the Kuwait National Guard, Lieutenant General Engineer Hashem Al-Rifai.

In these meetings, fruitful discussions were held on strengthening mutual relations between the armies of both countries and various aspects of bilateral cooperation.

Notably, the emir of Kuwait expressed sincere gratitude for Bangladesh's participation in the Gulf War and the significant contributions of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in Operation Kuwait Reconstruction.

During the visit, the army chief inspected the headquarters of the Bangladesh Military Contingent (BMC) in Kuwait, familiarized himself with its key activities, and provided necessary guidance.

He also addressed officers and held a special meeting (Durbar) with members of the contingent.

Additionally, he visited the Kuwait Armed Forces Staff College.

This visit is expected to further enhance the friendly relations between the armed forces of Bangladesh and Kuwait, boost the morale of Bangladeshi personnel engaged in Operation Kuwait Reconstruction (OKP), and create opportunities for skilled manpower recruitment from Bangladesh to Kuwait.
