Japanese envoy pays farewell call on foreign adviser

Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori paid a farewell call on Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain at the Foreign Ministry on Monday.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction over the current progress of bilateral engagement between the two countries under the "Strategic Partnership" framework.

The foreign adviser congratulated the Japanese ambassador for his successful completion of tenure in Bangladesh and thanked him for his active role in fostering constructive engagements with the interim government in recent months.

He also acknowledged Japan's unwavering support through significant contributions to major development projects in Bangladesh, particularly in infrastructure and social sectors.

The Japanese ambassador expressed his gratitude to the government of Bangladesh for the support and cooperation he received throughout his tenure in Dhaka.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the Bangladesh-Japan partnership for mutual benefit and prosperity.

He also wished that both Bangladesh and Japan will keep contributing to stronger bilateral relations through continued cooperation and collaboration.

Ambassador Kiminori expressed satisfaction at the current progress in ongoing EPA negotiations between Bangladesh and Japan.

He observed that this will contribute to the improvement of the business environment in between the two countries.

He underscored the need for regular holding of Foreign Office Consultations to address strategic issues as well as peace and stability in a comprehensive manner.

He also stressed on holding a public-private economic dialogue between Bangladesh and Japan for boosting trade and investment in future.

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain praised the quality of Japan-funded projects in Bangladesh and hoped for continued support in Bangladesh’s development journey.

He thanked Japan for its continued humanitarian support for the displaced Rohingyas in camps in Bangladesh and commended Japan’s efforts towards their safe, dignified return to Myanmar.

He sought the support of friends like Japan in Bangladesh’s current fight to prevent propaganda and misinformation against it.
