Japanese Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori assured cooperation in the reconstruction of facilities damaged in the power and energy sectors, as well as in roads, highways, bridges, and railways.
He said this during a meeting held by a Japanese delegation led by Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori and Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan at the ministry on Sunday.
Fouzul requested budget support from Japan to manage the rising costs of electricity and energy imports in Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Fouzul specifically requested Japan's urgent assistance in renovating the Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro rail stations.
In response, Ambassador Kiminori mentioned that he had already discussed the matter with the chief adviser and finance adviser, and that work on the renovations had commenced. The ambassador also expressed his condolences to the victims of the recent floods.
Additionally, the meeting covered topics including the review of the integrated energy master plan and the establishment of an LNG land terminal.
Senior Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Md Ehsanul Haque and Senior Secretary of the Power Department Md Habibur Rahman were also present during the discussions.
