State Minister urges Brazil to send cattles for Eid-ul-Azha

Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu has requested the Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to send cattles ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.

He said this in response to questions from journalists after meeting with the foreign minister of Brazil at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Sunday. 

The state minister said that he requested the foreign minister of Brazil because the price is cheap.

Ahsanul Islam Titu said: “Animal protein was the main focus in the meeting. Brazil in particular exports meat at very low prices.

“We requested them personally in view of the upcoming Eid. If it is cheap, we will look at the possibilities of this business. Basically, the dialog is in initial stage,” he added.

“The Brazilian foreign minister expressed hope that our joint dialogue will move forward. Their commerce secretary was also present in the meeting. They have invited us in July, hopefully we can identify some areas by then,” state minister said.

“We have told them that not only the Bangladesh market, but to process it in Bangladesh and enter the Asian market. We think we can leverage the South Asian hub,” he added.
